Hi, I'm an Assistant Professor at Seoul National University in the Graduate School of Data Science (which is becoming the Graduate School of AI) and SNU College. Our lab works at the intersection of HCI, responsible AI, and data visualization. The goal of our research is to help people better understand, develop, and use AI through a human-centered approach. We study real-world challenges AI practitioners face, and build novel interactive tools and data analysis interfaces to address them, ultimately supporting more effective and appropriate uses of AI. Previously, I was a professor at Yonsei University in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, a Senior Research Scientist at Google DeepMind in the People + AI Research (PAIR) team and a professor at Oregon State University. I received my Ph.D. from Georgia Tech, advised by Polo Chau, along with a Dissertation Award. jointly appointed in SNU College and the Graduate School of Data Science. Human-Computer Interaction (CHI), Responsible AI (FAccT), and machine learning. and supported by government and industry sponsors in both the U.S. and Korea (including NSF, DARPA, Google, IITP, and NAVER).
