Our goal is to pioneer innovative material systems for immunotherapy targeting cancer, autoimmune diseases, and allergies. We specialize in engineering diverse materials—such as porous nanoparticles, functional nanoparticles, hydrogels, and 3D scaffolds—that promote and regulate immune responses through advanced drug delivery concepts. These well-designed material platforms have the potential to modulate the dysregulated immune system associated with these diseases. We synthesize functional nanoparticles and hydrogels that mimic the antioxidant catalytic properties of natural enzymes to suppress inflammation. Incorporating these nanomaterials and drugs into adhesive wet hydrogels enables the development of skin-adhesive transdermal hydrogel patches for treating and managing symptoms associated with various inflammation-related skin diseases, such as atopic dermatitis and psoriasis. We are interested in engineering nanomaterials and hydrogels that can be used as important components in sunscreen, anti-aging, and antioxidant cosmetics.
