Our research seeks to understand how materials transform, function, and interact at the atomic scale, especially under realistic environments where energy conversion and catalytic processes occur. We develop and apply advanced electron microscopy techniques—including in situ liquid-phase and electrochemical TEM—to directly visualize nanoscale dynamics in real time. By integrating real-space imaging with synthesis, physical modeling, and selectively automated experimentation, we aim to reveal the fundamental structure–function relationships that govern performance in catalytic, electrochemical, and soft-matter systems. Current research areas include nanoscale synthesis, phase transitions, interfacial reactivity, and dynamic structure–function relationships. Through interdisciplinary approaches combining materials chemistry, microscopy, and artificial intelligence, we are building a scientific foundation for the rational design of functional materials in energy, environment, and beyond. Visualizing and controlling matter at the nanoscale to unlock new possibilities in catalysis, energy, and functional materials. We integrate real-time electron microscopy, advanced synthesis, and data-driven approaches to reveal how materials behave, evolve, and interact under working conditions. Our research aims to build fundamental understanding and drive innovation in energy conversion, catalysis, and bioinspired systems.
